Monitoring and Remediation Planning for Former Landfill Site | Harrison, Ohio

Monitoring and Remediation Planning for Former Landfill Site | Harrison, Ohio

Fishbeck supports the City of Harrison in managing the Former Municipal Landfill through ongoing explosive gas and methane monitoring, ensuring continued regulatory compliance. Our team recently updated the site’s Explosive Gas Monitoring Plan, including a demonstration supporting the use of temporary probes. We continue to lead the site’s semiannual monitoring and provide clear, actionable data to help the City maintain safe operations.
When elevated methane levels were detected in several wells in late 2024, our team quickly implemented contingency measures and additional sampling. With most wells returning to compliance, we are now developing a focused remediation plan for the remaining hotspot. The approach includes installing wind‑driven vent wells to relieve subsurface pressure and prevent gas migration. Our team guided the OEPA review process, reduced permitting time, and streamlined system implementation, helping the City protect public health and the environment with confidence.
